Jasirah”s seminars are so helpful! I’ve watched to many seminars of hers! I understand so many things for baladi and know I know how to improvise and how to make my own choreography! Thank you Jasirah! 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Sandy Maya –
What a great workshop. This wasn’t my first workshop with Jasirah, so I already had high expectations :). The attention to detail in Jasirah’s presentations is amazing. Even if you have danced for years and already know a thing or two about Baladi and the art of improvisation, I am convinced you’ll take something away from her teachings. Jasirah’s friendly apprach and way of explaining the origins and helping you to develop your improv skills to become a better dancer allows you to figure it out whilst also understanding the freedom that this type of dance can give you. I have taken a lot of nuggets out of this class. Thank you, Jasirah, for bringing a better understanding to the overall “baladi” term and interpretation.

If you think you can’t improvise, Jasirah will prove you wrong. 🙂 The entire training was conducted so that you first gain the necessary knowledge and then slowly implement it into practice. All the exercises and their order were of paramount importance, so after just two hours (instead of many years), I was able to dance taqsim improv with ease and joy. I can’t wait to continue 🙂

I always enjoy Jasirahs information workshops, so I try to always attend. I feel we should all know this information and it isn’t taught enough. Jasirah’s are always entertaining and very interesting, on a first watch I enjoy just taking it all in as entertainment. I felt a little bad this time as I’ve learned two Baladi choreographies and competed in competition without knowing/understanding the structure. On the second watch of this workshop, in which I wrote notes, it began to take much better shape in my mind. I went back to my two choreographies and was able to see the structure that we studied there. I am very much looking forward to further workshops on Baladi and an even better understanding.
The Taxim practice I have done before with Jasirah, a few years ago, as my ability has improved in general I was able to get even more this time around.
I really enjoy improvising to Taxim, and I love Baladi in general, I realise now this is probably due to the jazzy, blues, influence in the music which has long been a style I love.
I am very much looking forward to Volume 2. <3

This 4-hour workshop was inspiring and packed with valuable content.
First, Jasirah filled important gaps in my theoretical understanding of baladi. While I’ve studied with excellent teachers like Ranya Renée, Jasirah offered fresh insights and perspectives I hadn’t encountered before. Her teaching was clear, detailed, and well-structured, making the material easy to absorb and remember.
Second, I’ve always struggled with improvisation—I often feel I don’t have enough moves in my repertoire or don’t know how to match them to the music. Through a series of progressive exercises, Jasirah guided me to build confidence and understand how to improvise using the movements and steps I already know.
If you purchase this workshop, plan to watch it at least twice or take thorough notes during your first viewing. It’s definitely worth both your time and money.

The Baladi Vol1 workshop by dear Jasirah was an eyeopener to me. I always felt there is a structure in Baladi music and during this workshop had learnt so much about the history, origin, music/song structure, how to interpret it. I liked the examples shown along with related topic, it gives us knowledge of interpreting any live performance from a deeper view which as a dancer we should know. The way topics are covered, it should be easy to relate and remember. Also, during the practical part of the workshop, I like the different strategies/approach to do improvisation which we underestimate at times that we don’t have enough techniques. Looking forward to join future workshops on many different topics and I highly recommend Jasirah’s workshops to people to join 🙂
